Chocolate and peanut butter alert! I know, another chocolate and peanut butter recipe. Can you tell that I like chocolate and peanut butter yet? In addition to coffee, they are two things I can’t live without. For these ones, I added some extra chocolate flavor in the peanut butter filling to make them DOUBLE CHOCOLATE PROTEIN PEANUT BUTTER CUPS.
Ok, maybe all capital letters was a little excessive, but these are amazing. My good friend is pretty much obsessed with Reese’s cups, and he thought these were delicious, if not better than the unhealthy versions. I had to give out a lot of these to family and friends to keep myself from eating all of them in a couple days!
The filling, as you would expect has peanut butter in and protein powder. They can’t be protein peanut butter cups without those two things can they? I was going to use vanilla protein, but then I decided, hey why not make some double chocolate protein peanut butter cups? You can never have too much chocolate. So, instead of vanilla protein, I used my Xtend chocolate lava cake protein powder.
I’m pretty sure I say this about every recipe, but these might be some of the best peanut butter cups I’ve ever made. The filling is so creamy and filled with a delicious combination of salty peanut butter and decadent chocolate. The chocolate portion is made with dark chocolate (my favorite!) melted with a little bit of coconut oil. The coconut oil helps to keep these easy to eat and smooth. If you just melt the chocolate alone, it can crack once it hardens and you try and take a bit of it!
Anyway, I am sure you guys will enjoy these as much as I did and everyone else I let eat them! Enjoy!
