I don’t know about you guys, but I really love cake. Ok, ok, I actually love anything sweet. But I’d choose a big ol’ slice of birthday cake over ice cream any day. Seriously. Who doesn’t love cake? But, you know, you probably shouldn’t eat cake for breakfast all the time. That’s why I decided to make some birthday cake protein oatmeal.
This is the last of the 3 Coldstone inspired flavors that BSN was kind enough to send me to try. They are all delicious, but if you love cake like me, you will absolutely love this Birthday Cake Remix flavor. And before you ask, yes it actually does taste like birthday cake. I’m not sure how they did it, but they did it.
I absolutely love oatmeal, and could eat it everyday. I’m kind of weird though. I’m a creature of habit. When I find something that works, I stick with it. However, when eating oatmeal almost every day, it is really nice to change it up with different flavor combinations. I really enjoyed this one.
The best part is how easy it is to make too. It’s perfect for a busy morning. Just cook the oats, stir in the protein, add a few toppings and there you go in about 5 minutes. That is all you need to have a protein packed, fiber rich breakfast that will keep you fueled and full all morning!
and for fun, here’s a picture of me holding a giant birthday cake when I was racing in Belgium last summer!

Ingredients

- 3/4 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 1/2 cups milk*
- 1 scoop BSN Birthday Cake Remix protein powder
- 1 tbsp. birthday cake sprinkles
- 1/2 tsp. butter extract*

- more sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- Add oats and milk to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for about 1:30. Stir, microwave again for another 30 seconds to 1 minute to finish cooking. Add a little more milk if you like your oatmeal thinner, as this recipe makes the oatmeal a bit thicker.
- Once cooked, stir in protein powder, sprinkles, and butter extract.
- Mix birthday cake frosting ingredients in a separate bowl. Top oatmeal with frosting. Add a few extra sprinkles on top and enjoy.

Notes
*I cook the oats in almond milk to make them a bit creamier, but you can use water or any preferred milk. [br]**Optional, but it gives it a really delicious, rich, buttery cake flavor!
