It just isn’t a true Sunday without a big ol’ stack of protein pancakes. I also missed out on national pancake day last week so I had to make up for that. Can you believe that I missed out on national pancake day? You would have thought that I wouldn’t forget about a day as important as that! So anyway, I made these chocolate cherry protein pancakes for breakfast this morning.
It was a long process for me deciding what flavor of pancakes I wanted to make this morning. I figured chocolate was a no brainer, but I wanted another flavor to go with it. I found a container of cherry Greek yogurt in the fridge and figured why not make chocolate cherry pancakes?
I made some delicious chocolate covered strawberry protein pancakes a few weeks ago and these pancakes really reminded me of them. Except for the fact that they were cherry flavor instead of strawberry of course. I have started to realize that chocolate goes really well when paired with fruit. I think next time I may have to try the chocolate blueberry combination or maybe chocolate raspberry? Hmm.
There was multiple layers of chocolate flavor going on here. I used Musclepharm’s chocolate milk combat protein powder and cocoa powder for the chocolate pancakes. The chocolate milk flavor of the combat protein might just be my favorite flavor. The name definitely does it justice because it really does taste like chocolate milk. Then I topped the pancakes with my super easy dark chocolate sauce and some mini chocolate chips.
I even chopped up a few cherries and threw them in the batter. The moist chunks of cherry mixed with the intense chocolate flavor was an awesome combination. And the cherry Greek yogurt in between each pancake just added to the delicious flavor. I could seriously eat a whole stack of these again right now.
