I really cannot believe that it is still so hot. Seriously, we are almost at the end of September, and in Indianapolis it still has been consistently in the high 80’s and even the 90’s many days. However, it’s difficult to complain because I know in a few months when it’s freezing, I will be wishing I had the warmth back. So, since it’s still so warm, I figured what better way to cool off than with a protein frosty? A cappuccino chocolate chip protein frosty to be exact.
Coffee, chocolate, and protein all packed up into a delicious frosty? Yes, this is about as good as it gets. Whether it’s for a pre-workout energy boost, or post-workout refuel. You really can’t go wrong with something as good as this. It’s kind of like a frappuccino from Starbucks, but way better and not chocked full of empty calories and sugar!
This recipe is one that is really easy to customize and change the flavors a bit. You could add some peanut butter for extra flavor. That would be amazing. Now, I’m wondering why I didn’t do that. You could add some different extracts such as almond or hazelnut to amp up the flavor a bit too. Maybe white chocolate chips instead of dark chocolate? You really can do anything that tickles your fancy, and I’m sure it will be awesome!
I used Ascent cappuccino casein protein powder that they just came out with. I like the casein for a frosty like this because it blends up much thicker and absorbs more liquid. This makes for a nice, thick, creamy frosty rather than a thinner watered down one. It is so good!
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or preferred milk)
- 1 1/2 scoops Ascent cappuccino casein protein powder
- 1 frozen banana
- 2/3 cup ice, crushed
- 1/2 tbsp. coffee grounds (decaf or regular)
- 1 tbsp. dark chocolate chips
- Add all ingredients to a powerful blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. The longer you blend, the thicker it will get as the casein absorbs the liquid.
- Pour evenly into two glasses. Top with chocolate chips if desired and enjoy!
- Can also make 1 giant protein packed frosty if you don’t divide it in half.
