Man, it has been a little bit since I made my last batch of black bean protein brownies. Oh, how I’ve missed these decadent, delicious treats. Without a doubt, I have to say black bean protein brownies are my favorite thing to make (or eat!). Anyway, these pumpkin peanut butter protein black bean brownies are up there with some of the best I have made.
Of course, as you can imagine, they are some of my favorites because of the inclusion of peanut butter. I’m a sucker for anything with chocolate and peanut butter. However, I also decided to add a bit of fall flavor to this one since it’s finally getting to be some crisp weather and the leaves are starting to turn. Up until a couple weeks ago, it really hadn’t quite hit me yet that it was fall considering it was nearly 80 degrees for a good portion of October.
It’s getting to be the time where I have to layer up for my morning training rides on the bike, or even recently stay inside and ride the dreaded trainer when it is too chilly. One of the few things that keeps me motivated during those trainer rides is the thought of a delicious treat like these!
I followed a similar base recipe to some of the protein black bean brownies I have done before, but this time, of course, adding pumpkin. The pumpkin helps to make them super moist and almost a fudge-like consistency. I also used a new protein powder my Precision Supplements out of Canada. I used their I-PLX protein in the triple chocolate sundae flavor which was perfect for these brownies.
To extend the delicious pumpkin peanut butter flavor even more, I made a pumpkin peanut butter frosting to top the brownies with. Thanks to using peanut flour rather than regular peanut butter, it is also super low fat and calorie friendly, but certainly doesn’t skimp on the delicious peanut butter flavor. Finally, I added an extra sprinkle of chocolate chips on top because you can never have too much chocolate. Right?

Hi, I really like your recipes. I made the peanut butter swirl protein brownies and they were amazing. Is there any way you can start leaving the protein powder measurements or weight in grams? I use a few different protein powders and they have different size scoops. Thanks

Hey Tom,
Thanks for the comment. That is a good idea. As of lately, I just use volume measurements rather than actually weighing things out so often times it can vary especially since weight of a scoop isn’t always the exact same as what is listed on the serving label. However, for this recipe, the protein I used says it is 40g per scoop.
I’m glad you are enjoying the recipes. The black bean brownies are definitely some of my favorites!! Enjoy!
